Women's Basketball Closes Season On Road

PORTLAND, Ore., - The Lewis & Clark
women’s basketball team will play its final games of the
2008-09 season this weekend, taking on the Whitman Missionaries on
Friday, February 20 at 6 p.m. in Walla Walla, Washington. The
Pios’ season will end with a game against the Whitworth
Pirates on Sunday, February 22 at 1 p.m. in Spokane,
Washington.

Inside Look
L&C (11-12, 5-9 NWC) will travel to Walla Walla, Washington to
play Whitman (17-7, 9-6 NWC) this Friday. In a game earlier this
week against the Whitworth Pirates, Whitman earned a playoff berth
in the Northwest Conference Championships with an 81-56 decision.
The Missionaries are currently the third ranked team in the
Northwest Conference. The Pioneers earned a 52-49 victory against
Whitman when the teams played earlier this season, upsetting
Whitman’s second-place NWC standings. Talerra Rich led the
Pios with 20 points and nine rebounds.
The Pioneers last game of the 2008-09 season will be played against
Whitworth (12-12, 6-9 NWC). The Pirates fell 81-56 to Whitman
earlier this week, and gave up their spot in post-season play with
a 71-58 loss to Pacific Lutheran last weekend. The Pioneers dropped
a close match-up with the Pirates earlier in the season, falling
65-61. Margaret Dowling was the teams go-to player, ending the game
with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Last Weekend
The Pioneers ended their home-season play with a 56-52 win over
Linfield on Friday, February 13. The team then traveled to Salem,
Ore. for a match-up against Willamette, leading the entire
second-half to achieve a 68-59 victory.
