PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
women’s basketball team got a nice break away from the game
on Wednesday, Feb. 3 when the team hung out with members of Upward
Basketball. The Pioneers and girls of Upward Basketball worked
together on game fundamentals, as well as competing side by side in
a couple pick up games.
Upward Basketball is a national organization that emphasizes
healthy competition, sportsmanship, skills building and fan –
something that the Pioneers also like to promote. The women’s
basketball team paired with a special group of 5th and 6th graders
on this particular evening, with everyone involved having the time
of their life. The Pioneers were first introduced to Upward
Basketball thanks to former Pioneer basketball player, Jenny Pratt,
who has a daughter on the team.
Twelve of the girls from Upward Basketball will play at half time
of the Pioneers game on Saturday, Feb. 6 against Pacific
Lutheran.
