Women's Basketball Helps Clean Up Willamette Park

By Judy McMullen

PORTLAND, Ore. - On Saturday, October 15th the Pioneer women's basketball team joined with Portland Parks to pull ivy and plant indigenous grasses in Willamette Park, on the west bank of the Willamette River, as part of their annual community service project.  This is the eighth consecutive year that the Pioneers have volunteered in this way to assist Portland Parks.

Head Basketball Coach Juli Fulks comments, "Given the social conscience of our Lewis & Clark Community and the 'hard work' mentality of our team, we've always believed it was a beneficial combination."  Each year prior to the start of their season the team and coaches volunteer their time and energy to this valuable project.

Women's basketball opens their home season on Tuesday, November 15th against Evergreen State.  Game time is 6:00 p.m. in Pamplin Sports Center.
