NAMPA, Idaho - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team headed to Nampa, Idaho on Friday to take on Northwest Nazarene in an exhibition contest. The Pioneers were unable to overcome the Crusaders, falling to the Division II member 70-63.
Senior Megan Spence and junior Kristina Williams led the Pioneers offensively with 15 points each. Senior Neva Hauser chipped in 10 points, while Sara Villanueva chipped in eight. The Pioneers continue to be solid from the free throw line, finishing the contest 10-12 as a team from the charity stripe.
Megan Hingston led all players in points with 19, while teamamte Briaunna King finished with 13 points for Northwest Nazarene.
The Pioneers battled strong against the Crusaders, holding an eight point lead for nearly six minutes in the first half. The two sides swapped leads on five occasions and tied the contest four times. The Pios scored 21 points off of turnovers, while draining 10 points on second chance opportunities.
Lewis & Clark opens the regular season on Tuesday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. hosting Evergreen State.
