Women's Basketball Opens Season With Strong 76-58 Win Over UC Santa Cruz in Bon Appetit Tournament
PORTLAND, Ore. - Senior Kristina Williams had the hot hand for the Lewis & Clark women's basketball team on Saturday afternoon in the squads 76-58 victory over UC Santa Cruz. Williams scored a game-high 29 points in the win while collecting 14 rebounds for her first double-double of the year.
William's 29 points is just four shy of her career high. Tayler Wang also had a good night for the Pioneers, scoring 15 points, while collecting seven rebounds. Sophomore Casey Zinn knocked down 11 points for Lewis & Clark and Kathlene Howe scored 10 in the win.
Sarah Mackey led the Banana Slugs with 17 points, while Sarah Fitzgerald scored nine.
The Pioneers return to action on Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. when they host Corban in their final game of the Bon Appetit Tournament.
