Williams Scores 32 in Women's Basketball's 82-54 Win Over Corban

PORTLAND, Ore. - The #11 Lewis & Clark women's basketball ended the Bon Appetite Tournament with an 82-54 win over Corban. Senior Kristina Williams scored 32 points in the contest, earning MVP honors, while Tayler Wang was named to the All-Tournament Team. 

The Pioneers improve to 2-0 on the season after two strong wins over the weekend. The Warriors fall to 2-4 on the season. 

William's was 12-for-13 from the floor, hitting 5-of-7 from the free-throw line. The senior guard also ended the contest tied with a game-high eight rebounds. Wang scored 13 points in the win, while Sara Villanueva and Casey Zinn each netted eight points. As a team the Pioneers finished the night with 17 steals.

Julia Young scored a team-high 13 points for the Warriors. Tara Vanweerdhuizen, who earned All-Tournament honors for her efforts over the weekend, scored eight points for Corban. 

It didn't take long for the Pioneers to get things going in the first half, starting out with a 20-2 run in the opening six minutes. Williams and Wang teamed up for 17 of the 20 points during the scoring streak. 

A made free-throw by Williams with 8:58 to go in the half gave the Pioneers a 21 point, 33-21, lead over the Warriors. Another Williams free-throw handed the Pioneers a 46-19 lead with 2:26 to go after Hanna Ellis foul on a fast break. Jessica Rodriguez found Wang outside with 54 seconds to go in the half to give the Pioneers their largest lead of the period at 51-21.

Lewis & Clark kept a 30+ point cushion between them and Corban throughout the majority of the second half. It wasn't until a jumper by Katherine Salness with 1:04 remaining in the game that the Warriors cut the deficit to 20+ points.

The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. at Warner Pacific.
