#8 Women's Basketball Earns NCAA At-Large Bid to NCAA Tournament
PORTLAND, Ore. - The #8 Lewis & Clark women's basketball team earned an NCAA Division III Tournament At-Large bid on Monday. The Pioneers, who are set to make their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, will serve as a first/second round host.
The Pioneers are one of three Northwest Conference teams that have been invited to the tournament, with Whitworth earning the conference's automatic qualifier and Whitman earning an at-large bid.
Lewis & Clark finished the season 24-3 and will meet Trinity (Texas) in the first round on Friday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. The Tigers of Trinity ended the regular season 23-4 overall, earning the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Championship.
Whitman will face off against Cal Lutheran (23 - 4) on Friday, March 1 at 5:30 p.m. The Regals earn a spot after winning their second consecutive Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title by beating Chapman 59 - 54 in the conference title game. The Missionaries suffered a disappointing loss at home in the NWC semi-finals after earning the No. 2 seed but earned the NCAA berth based on its total body of work.
The winner of the two games will meet on Saturday, March 2 at 7 p.m.
