Women's Basketball Battles George Fox; Anderson Knocks Down 23
NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's basketball team battled the #13 George Fox Bruins on Tuesday night in Northwest Conference action, falling 66-48.
The loss drops the Pioneers to 12-11 on the season and 7-7 in conference play. The Bruins, who sit in second place in the NWC standings, are now 20-3 on the season and 11-3 in conference.
Senior Katie Anderson paced the Pioneers with a game-high 23 points. Ayisat Afolabi, Jessica Rodriguez and Reese DeHart each collected four rebounds, while Afolabi picked up four steals. Senior Daron Dean ended the night with six assists.
Jamie Roos led the Bruins with 15 points, while Dacia Heckendorf, Nicole Blizzard and Jordyn Peacock each had five rebounds.
The game saw three score ties and two lead changes in the first half, with the Pioneers holding a one point, 4-3, lead with 16:26 on the clock courtesy of a Anderson free-throw. George Fox took the lead for good with 15:18 to go in the first half on a jumper and never looked back.
Lewis & Clark returns to the court on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. when they play host to #25 Whitworth.
