Lewis & Clark’s winning streak ends at Occidental

LOS ANGELES -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers had their three-game winning streak end on Friday in a 61-55 defeat to the Occidental Tigers in each team's opening game of the Occidental-Caltech Fall Classic.

Following three wins in their final four home games to start the season, the Pios trailed the whole game except once on Friday. Despite getting within a single possession several times, they didn't regain the lead.

Miyah Leith scored 16 points to lead all scorers. The senior had the first six points for the Pioneers on her way to 10 in the first half on 3 of 3 shooting. Alyx Crager added 12 points and hit one of her three 3-pointers in the middle of the third quarter to bring the Pios within three midway through the third quarter.

Tori Eichten added eight points, her third game in row with eight or more points. Kelley Koeppen had five points, all in the first half, to go with four rebounds. Lauren Wood pulled down 12 boards.

Lewis & Clark made 6 of 21 from 3-point range and shot 34 percent overall. Occidental led by as many as 11 points, with Shariah Green finishing as the team's leading scorer with 14 points. She was one of three Tigers (3-0) in double figures.

The Pioneers (3-2) play at Caltech at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
