Day One of NWC Fall Classic Concludes
PORTLAND, Ore. – After day one of the
Northwest Conference Fall Classic, which was plagued by rain all
day, the Whitworth Pirates are on pace to once again take the top
spot at the Fall Classic after a day one score of 334.
The Pirates were led by Emily Gutherie who led the group with an
80, while teammate Elizabeth Martin finished a stroke behind with
an 81. Krystal Pitkonen shot an 84 on the day, while Emily
Travis’ score also counted with an 89.
George Fox and Linfield currently sit eight strokes behind
Whitworth tied with a day one 342. Sarah Askin of George Fox and
Brittany Johnston of Linfield both finished in third place on the
day, shooting 82’s. Sophie Corr of Linfield finished with an
83, while teammate Brynn Hurdus shot an 86. The next George Fox
finishers were Kelsey Morrison and Brianna Nap who both shot an
87.
Puget Sound sits in fourth after a first day at 355, led by an 84
from Sarah Bicker. Whitman is in fifth at 357, led by an 84 from
Caitlin Holland.
Pacific is in sixth with a team score of 381, while Pacific
Lutheran is in seventh with a 395. Willamette sits in eighth with a
411, while Lewis & Clark put together a 425 on day one.
The teams are set to tee off at 10 a.m. tomorrow for day two of
the classic with all the teams chasing valuable points toward the
NWC Championship crown.
