2009 NWC Women's Golf Fall Classic Preview
PORTLAND, Ore. – The Northwest Conference
Women’s Fall Classic will serve as a preview of what’s
to come at the NWC Championship in April, with the Lewis &
Clark Pioneers hosting both tournaments at Heron Lakes Golf Club in
Portland, Ore.
The women’s teams will be playing on the Green Back Course.
The Green Back is is a classic municipal golf course: challenging
yet straightforward. The course provides a fair amount of trouble
areas, but they are counteracted by sizable landing areas and large
greens.
The Whitworth Pirates were the Fall Classic Team Champions, as
well as the Spring Classic Champions, but lost the NWC team title
to the Puget Sound Loggers. The Loggers came from behind to tie the
Pirates in total points after the three tournaments. Because the
Loggers won the NWC Championship they were chosen to represent the
conference at the NCAA tournament. The Loggers went on to finish
18th at the NCAA Tournament in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Individually, Sarah Bicker earned the NWC title after shooting a
162, finishing just one stroke over Brynn Hurdus of Linfield and
Whitney Ueno of Willamette.
