2007 Women's Soccer Season Preview
The Pioneers will have the most-veteran team in the Northwest
Conference this season. The Pioneers could have eight seniors on
the squad, eight seniors who, as freshmen four years ago, brought
soccer back as a varsity sport at Lewis & Clark, six of whom
are beginning their fourth season as a starter.
Despite missing half the season with an injury, Lisa Housman led
the 2006 team in scoring for the third-straight year. Housman has
been among the Conference leaders in points all three years,
earning two second team all-conference honors for her efforts.
Alison Hudson will also begin her fourth season as a starter and a
potent offensive threat. Other players to watch near the net will
be juniors Brittany Larson and Stevie Thurin.
Last season, midfielder Katie Burnett’s efforts at midfield
were recognized with an honorable mention among the all-conference
honorees. She will once again be an anchor for the team in that
pivotal role.
On defense, Liska Havel was a standout addition to last
year’s squad.
The Pioneers will look for more strong efforts from her in her
sophomore season. In the net, Nora Germano begins her fourth season
as the primary goaltender for the Pioneers. Germano has started all
but one game since coming to Lewis & Clark in 2004.
