Soccer Falls 0-1 to OIT

The Pioneer women's soccer dropped their final non-Conference game of the year 1-0 to the visiting Owls of Oregon Tech Sunday morning at Griswold Stadium.
Thirty-three minutes into the game, Oregon Tech had their first scoring opportunity of the game taken away by the Pioneer defense. The Owls Janelle Stoner had an empty net, clear shot until the Pioneers' Nicole Greenberg (senior, Santa Monica, Calif.) ranged over and made kicked the ball clear of the net.
The Owls didn't miss on their next opportunity. OIT's Katie O'Brien found another empty net on a breakaway. After beating the last defender, she kicked in a clean shot from ten yards out to give OIT the 1-0 lead. They held on for the victory.
The Pioneers outshot the Owls 21-7 with seven more shots on goal. Lisa Housman (senior, Beverly Hills, Calif.) led the offensive attack with five shots on goal.
With the loss, the Pioneers fall to 0-1-1. They open the Northwest Conference portion of their schedule next weekend with a pair of home matches. They host Puget Sound Saturday and Pacific Lutheran Sunday. Both games start at 12 noon at Griswold Stadium.
