2008 Incoming Soccer Players

When Pioneer soccer camp opens on August 18, eleven first-year L&C students and two current students will be joining the 14 veteran Pioneers on the field meeting the new Pioneer Head Coach Steve Golas.
The incoming freshman soccer players are:
Hannah Anderson, a midfielder from Capital High School in Olympia, Wash. who was a two-time All-League honorable mention and twice served as Team Captain. She played four years varsity soccer at CHS and ran three years varsity track. Her father, Rick Anderson, played football for three seasons at Lewis & Clark.
Malia Grosskreutz is a forward and halfback from Waiakea High in Hilo, Hawaii. She was named the Big Island Federation Player of the Year and was a two-time BIIF First Team selection. She served two seasons as team captain and also played in the senior all-star game. In addition to excelling on the soccer field, Malia was the WHS Valedictorian.
Kate MacDougal will try to fill one of the gaps in the Pioneer lineup, coming in as a goalkeeper from Monte Vista High in Danville, Calif. where she was given the Mustang Soccer Student Athlete Award.
Hannah Mader is a versatile forward from Minnetonka High in Minnetonka, Minn. In high school, she earned four letter in Nordic skiing, also running cross country three years and participating in sailing for one season. She received the Student Recognition Award for dedication at MHS.
Liz Martin is a midfielder from Irvington High in Fremont, Calif. She was a four year All-Conference (MVAL) selection, earning first team honors three years and second team honors as a freshman. She was an NCS Scholar Athlete and a CSF Lifetime Member.
Renda Nazzal played forward and center midfield at El Capitan High in Lakeside, Calif. The two year Team Captain was named Rookie of the Year her first season and went on to earn Team MVP honors in her career. She played for the Hotspurs Club Soccer Team in San Diego and was All-Conference Academics for all four years of high school. She played three seasons varsity soccer and one year varsity volleyball.
Brina Soell is another incoming goalkeeper for the Pioneers, coming to L&C from the University of Colorado, Boulder. At Boulder High, she played two years of varsity soccer, her sophomore and junior years, and was named First Team Academic All-State.
Natalie Stratton played outside defense and midfield for Laguna Hills High in Laguna Hills, Calif. She was named the MVP of her JV squad and the Varsity Rookie of the Year. She played three years of varsity soccer at LHHS. She also plans on running track at L&C, with the 800m being her specialty.
Gillian Sullivan-Bing is a center midfielder from Oak Park River Forest High in Oaks Park, Ill. where she played three years varsity soccer and was named the co-captain of the team she played on her freshman year.
Saskia Taylor is a midfielder from Madison West High in Madison, Wisc. where she was named First Team All-City First Team All-Conference, and the All-City Player of the Year. She was also named Team MVP and was a two-time Team Captain. She played four years of varsity soccer at MWHS.
Madelyn Troiano from Stellar Secondary School in Anchorage, Alaska played defense for four years at West High School in Anchorage.
There will also be two current students at Lewis & Clark joining the freshmen and the returners. Jess Asbridge, a junior who has been a member of the crew team, and Stella Gilliand, a sophomore who played three years varsity soccer in high school, both plan to play soccer in the fall for the Pioneers.
Soccer players report to campus on August 18 for the start of pre-season camp. The Pioneers open their season at Griswold Stadium on September 1 when they host cross-town school Warner Pacific in a noon match. They open their Northwest Conference schedule at home on September 19 when they host George Fox.
