NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team hit the road for its final road game of the 2012 season on Friday afternoon, falling to the George Fox Bruins 1-0.
The Pioneers, who currently rank fourth in the Northwest Conferece, fall to 7-8-3 overall and 7-5-3 in the NWC. The Bruins improve to 3-14-2 on the season and 2-13 in conference.
The game was fairly even with the Pioneers edging out the Bruins in shots 15 to 13, while both sides had eight shots on goal.
Melanie Gaither scored the games lone goal in the 70th minute. The goal came after some confusion at the top of the 18-yard box that drew Pioneer goalkeeper Geena Fong out of net, leaving Gaither wide open with no between her and the net.
The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Nov. 3 at 12 p.m. when they host Puget Sound for the last game of the year. The Pios graduating seniors will be honored at halftime.
