PORTLAND, Ore.- The Lewis & Clark Women's soccer team beat Hamline University 2-1 at home to open the 2013 season.
Lewis & Clark (1-0) struck first, 51 seconds into the game when Emily Thompson beat her defenders on the left side and chipped the ball over the keeper into the top right corner. Play was even until the 56th minute when Hamline (0-1) evened the score at one all. Eden Behrens received a cross from Aileen Scheibner at the top of the box and fired a shot past the goalie.
The Pioneers regained the lead in the 86th minute when Isobel Fikso dribbled up the right side beating her defenders and crossed it into the box. The ball found Anna Thorndike who used her heel to slip it past the keeper on the left side for the game winning goal.
