Women’s Soccer Shuts Out North Central in First Road Game

NAPERVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis & Clark Women's soccer team defeated North Central College 3-0 on Sept. 7 at Benedetii-Wehrli Stadium.
Sophomore Anna Thorndike scored first for the Pioneers in the 42nd minute, her second goal of the season. Freshman Rochelle Jordan picked up the assist. Shortly into the second half senior Natalie Levy headed in her first goal of the season off a pass from senior Emilia Emmetti. Sophomore transfer Marissa Sandgren extended the Pioneers lead in the 84th minute for her first career Lewis & Clark goal.
The Pioneers outshot the Cardinals 8-1 in the first half and 18-4 in the game. Sophomore Emily Thompson led Lewis & Clark with five shots, two on goal while Sandgren followed with four shots, three on goal. Junior Geena Fong and sophomore Lindsey Milgrom combined for the shutout as the Pioneers defense proved too strong for the Cardinals by allowing only one shot on goal.
With the win Lewis & Clark improves to 2-0 on the season while North Central falls to 0-3.
The Pioneers continue their road trip tomorrow, Sept. 8, as they take on Benedictine University at 9am.
