PORTLAND, Ore.- With less than two minutes left in regulation sophomore Anna Thorndike scored her team leading sixth goal of the season to lead the Pioneers to a 1-0 victory over Northwest Conference opponent Whitman at Griswold Stadium Sunday afternoon.

Lewis & Clark was awarded a free kick from 25 yards that Whitman goalkeeper Emily Davis was able to get her hands on.  The ricochet found Thornike's foot, who was able to slip it through traffic into the back of the net from a few yards out.  The goal was Thorndike's game leading sixth shot of the day.  Whitman was lead by Kelsey Roehner's three shots, two of which were on target.

Whitman was unable to get a shot off in the second half as junior goalkeeper Geena Fong was able to record her second shutout of the season.  The Pioneers out shot the Missionaries 13 to 7, respectively.

The win brings Lewis & Clark to 5-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in Northwest Conference play.  Whitman slips to 6-2 overall and 2-2 in NWC.

Pacific Lutheran will travel to Lewis & Clark on Sept. 28 to continue conference play.  Game time is set for 12:00 PM.
