Women's Soccer Beats George Fox 3-0

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team won their homecoming game 3-0 over visiting George Fox in Northwest Conference play. The win brings the Pioneers to 7-2-1 overall and 4-1-1 in NWC action. With the loss the Bruins fall to 3-6-1 overall and 1-4-1 in conference play.
Lewis & Clark got on the board first when sophomore Emily Thompson found the back of the net off of a corner kick by senior Emilia Emmetti in the 11th minute. The Pioneers extended the lead to 2-0 in the 34th minute on a penalty kick by sophomore Anna Thorndike.
L&C controlled most of the second half outshooting George Fox 17-1 and 31-4 in the game. Senior Natalie Levy was able to control a scramble in the box and fire a shot past the keeper for the final goal of the game to push the Pioneer lead to 3-0.
Thorndike led the Pioneers with seven shots, four on goal while teammates Marissa Sandgren and Sarah Breninger each contributed five. The Bruins were led by Becca Allen's three shots in which two were on target.
Lewis & Clark travels to University of Puget Sound on Oct. 12 to face the Loggers in Northwest Conference play. The game is scheduled to begin at noon.
