Women's Soccer Ends Season With 2-0 Loss to #19 Puget Sound

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team ended its season with a 2-0 loss to league champion and 19th ranked nationally University of Puget Sound at Griswold Stadium Saturday afternoon. 

The loss slips L&C to 10-9-1 on the season and 7-8-1 in league.  UPS moves to 15-2-2 overall and 13-1-2 in the NWC.

During halftime the Pioneers honored its three seniors ( Sarah Breninger, Emilia Emmetti, and Natalie Levy) for their time at Lewis & Clark. 

The first half was quiet with neither team able to find the back of the net. In the second half University of Puget Sound's Kylie Beesen was able to get the Loggers on the score board first in the 51st minute.  Beesen collected a pass from Amalia Acorda-Fey a few yards out on the right side and was able to slip it into the goal.  Less than two minutes later Annie Jonsson extended the lead to 2-0 on a breakaway to an empty goal. 

UPS outshot L&C 17-8 on the day.  The Pioneers were led by Anna Thorndike's three shots while teammate Emily Thompson had two.  Geena Fong collected five saves in goal.

Lewis & Clark tied its school record (since being reinstated in 2004) for conference wins in a season with seven and broke the record for most wins in a season which was previsouly set at seven.  The Pioneers had ten wins on the year.  Senior Emilia Emmetti extended the all time career assist record to 11 which she broke last season.  She also broke the record for career games started with 75.  The previous record for 64 which was set in 2007.
