Women's Soccer Honors Fong & McNeff Following Whitworth Game

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's soccer team honored its two graduating seniors, Geena Fong and Raquel McNeff, following the teams 1-0 loss to Whitworth in Northwest Conference action.

The Pioneers are now 9-6-1 on the season and 7-5-2 in conference action. The Pirates improve to 7-11-1 overall and 6-9 in the NWC.

The Pirates lone goal came in the 54th minute of action when Fong and Christina McCormick each went for the ball, with McCormick getting enough of a touch to slip it into goal.

Lewis & Clark outshot Whitworth 15-6, with Emily Thompson finishing with a game-high five shots, three of which were on frame. The Pirate keeper was forced to make eight saves to preserve the win, while Fong made two.

During the senior day presentation head coach Jim Tursi described Fong as "good-natured, amicable, and agreeable," while saying McNeff is "happy go lucky, humble, and easy to please."

The team returns to action on Friday, Nov. 7 at 11 a.m. at Linfield.
