Schmidt scores lone goal in Pioneers defeat

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Courtney Schmidt scored her third goal of the season for the team's only tally as the Lewis & Clark Pioneers lost to the Willamette Bearcats, 3-1, on Wednesday night at Griswold Stadium.

Schmidt tapped the shot in off the deflection by one of the Willamette defenders to even the match in the 33rd minute. The freshman's goal gives her eight points on the season, second-most on the team.

The Bearcats had a 2-1 lead at halftime after scores by Kelsey Walker in the 16th minute and Emmy Manset in the 34th. Walker's was unassisted, while Manset's score was off the pass from Jenae Arnold. Willamette (11-4-2, 8-4-1 NWC) added another in the 69th minute by Lacey Jones.
