TACOMA, Wash. - Sophomore Claudia Lew helped the Lewis & Clark women's tennis team earn two points, while Olivia Sweetman picked up the teams other point in the Pios 6-3 loss at Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action.
Lew and partner Theresa Grigsby picked up the Pioneers only doubles point, taking down Logan Thompson and Jenna Gerdsen 8-5 from the No. 1 spot. Lew then went onto take down Thompson in singles action, earning a 6-4, 6-3 win as the Pios No. 1. Olivia Sweetman collected the Pioneers other singles point as the No. 2, winning 6-4, 5-2 before Gerdsen retired.
Sweetman and Paloma Vizcaino teamed up to play as the Pios No. 3 doubles team, falling 8-2. Makena McCluskey and Allison Schneider were the other doubles team, falling 8-3 to Malia Ford and Elizabeth Chao.
Chao took down McCluskey after three hard fought sets in No. 3 singles. Choa won 6-1 in the opening set before McCluskey earned a 6-3 win in the second. Chao bounced back to take the third set 6-3. Grigsby fell 6-3 in both sets at No. 4 singles, while Schneider (No. 5) lost 6-0, 6-0 and Vizcaino (No. 6) fell 6-0, 6-1.
Lewis & Clark returns to action on Friday, March 14 at Pacific.
