Doubles the Difference in 5-4 Victory for Women's Tennis


FOREST GROVE, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark women's tennis team pulled out a 5-4 victory at Pacific on Friday afternoon in Northwest Conference action. 

The Pioneers won two out of the three doubles competitions with Makena McCluskey and Allison Schneider taking down Carlee Rhodaback and Kelsey Lack 8-4 at the No. 2 position. Olivia Sweetman and Paloma Vizcaino earned the other doubles point, defeating Danielle Wicks and Kelly Flores 8-2 as the Pios No. 3. Despite their best efforts the duo of Claudia Lew and Esa Grigsby could not overcome the balanced attack of Kaitlyn Lomartire and Francesca Battaglia, falling 8-4. 

The two teams split singles points with the Pioneers earning points from the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 positions. Sweetman battled Battaglia in the No. 2 spot, earning a 6-3, 6-4 victory. Esa Grigsby made quick work of Wicks, winning 6-1, 6-0. Vizcaino earned Lewis & Clark's final point winnig 6-3, 6-1 over Lack. 

Lewis & Clark returns to action on Saturday, March 15 at 11 a.m. at Linfield.
