HONOLULU, Hawaii - Linfield (Ore.) sophomore
libero Samantha Lau (St. Francis '08 of Kailua) earned First Team
All-Northwest Conference honors last week after leading the league
with 5.47 digs per set. Lau was also a Third Team Academic
All-American District IIX selection. Puget Sound senior libero
Leigh Sumida ('Iolani '06 of Kane'ohe), Pacific (Ore.) sophomore
middle blocker Kelsy Takashima (Moloka'i '08 of Kaunakakai) and
Lewis & Clark (Ore.) freshman setter Leia Matsunaga
(Kamehameha '09 of Kane'ohe) received Honorable
Mention. Sumida had 22 digs while junior defensive specialist Kris
Sumida ('Iolani '07 of Kane'ohe) 14 digs in a five-set loss to Cal
Lutheran Thursday in the first round of the NCAA Division III
Tournament.
