The Pioneers were unable to hold off the Pirates, who cruised to a 25-13, 25-15, and 2515 victory.

The Pioneers faced Whittier in their opening game, falling to the Poets 3-1 (15-25, 28-26, 27-25, 21-25). Northwest University did not take it easy on the Pioneers, defeating the Pios in their second match of the day by scores of 25-13, 25-20, and 25-21. Lewis & Clark came from behind in their third match of the day to take down Walla Walla 3-2 (23-25, 22-25, 26-24, 25-15, 15-11) for the Pios first win of the season.
