Second Half of Northwest Conference Action Begins With 3-1 Loss For Volleyball


PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team opened the second half of the Northwest Conference action on Wednesday night, hosting the George Fox Bruins. The Bruins defeated the Pioneers 3-1 (25-16, 17-25, 25-15, 25-18) in the Pamplin Sports Center. 

The Pioneers are now 6-12 on the season and 2-7 in NWC play, while the Bruins improve to 8-8 overall and 6-3 in conference. 

Kataleya Milan finished the night tied with a match-high 13 kills, while Jennifer Dowdy picked up 10 kills for the Pioneers. Alicia Callejo-Black led all players in blocks with four. 

Erin Campbell of George Fox also ended the night with 13 kills, while teammate Lucy Capron had 12. 

In their best set of the night, the Pioneers hit .222, while holding the Bruins to .000. After the Bruins tied the set at 9-9 the Pioneers began to pull away, eventually running out to a 24-16 advantage. Milan ended the set with a solid put down assisted by Leia Matsunaga

The Pioneers return to action on Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. when they host Linfield.
