Volleyball Ends California Trip with Matches Against Whittier & LaVerne

LAVERNE, Calif. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team ended its California trip with matches against Whittier and LaVerne. The Pioneers fell in both matches 3-2. 

The Pioneers won the opening two sets against the Poets, earning a dominating 25-14 win in the first set, before picking up a 26-24 win in the second. The Poets buckled down and won the next three sets to take the match. The final three sets were battles with the Poets winning by slim margins (25-21, 27-25, 18-16).

Kataleya Milan led the Pioneers with 19 kills, while Brigitte Russo chipped in 13. Freshman Alexe Navarro led the team with 31 digs.

Lewis & Clark won the opening set in convincing fashion, 25-15, before slipping in the second 31-29. The Leopards earned a 25-20 win in the third set to take a 2-1 advantage. The Pioneers bounced back to win the fourth set 25-23. The Leopards took full control in the deciding set to take the match with a 15-7 win.

Isable Valentine and Milan each finished the match with 17 kills, while senior Kelsie Dorpat ended the night with 38 assists. Navarro once again led the Pios in digs posting 23.

The Pioneers return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 4 at 6 p.m. against Concordia (Ore.) on the road.
