Volleyball Comes From Behind to Defeat Whitworth


SPOKANE, Wash. - The Lewis & Clark volleyball team came back from two sets down to earn a 3-2 victory over the Whitworth Pirates in Northwest Conference action on Saturday night. The Pioneers fell 23-25, 14-25 in the opening sets before fighting back to take the final three sets 25-15, 25-23, 22-20.

The win is the Pioneers first NWC victory of the season, improving them to 2-6 overall and 1-1 in conference. The Pirates fall to 7-7 on the season and 1-1 in the NWC.

Junior Kataleya Milan led all players with 20 kills and 25 digs, while collecting five blocks (four assisted / one solo). Isabel Valentine ended the night with 10 kills and a match-high 10 blocks (eight assisted / two solo). Senior Kayla Ernewein posted the top attacking percentage of both teams (.375), recording eight kills on 16 attempts. Kelsie Dorpat led all players with 45 assists.

Kristine Kardell led the Pirates with 17 kills, while teammate Jalana White ended her night with 15.

The Pioneers return to action on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. for their first home match of the season. The Pios will host Puget Sound in Northwest Conference action.
