Pioneers downed in midweek matchup

PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers dropped a home match with the George Fox Bruins, 25-23, 25-15, 25-13, on Wednesday night at Pamplin Sports Center.

The Pioneers held an 11-7 lead early in the first set by capitalizing on George Fox errors and kills by Bailee Cragun and Sam Yorke before George Fox used a 6-2 run to even the set. Lewis & Clark scored four-straight points on Annika San Nicolas' serves to lead 23-21, but committed three errors on the next four rallies and George Fox sealed a 1-0 lead in the match.

George Fox (5-7, 4-5 NWC) opened to big leads in the next two sets to close out the match.

Four Pios, Makena Ohlmaier, Kortney Meyer, Cragun and Yorke, led the Pioneers with five kills apiece. With Mikayla Lopez out with an injury, Yorke was the team's primary setter and totaled 17 assists. San Nicolas finished with 18 digs, a game high.

George Fox's Laney Search led the game with eight kills and Madison Ross had 22 assists.

Lewis & Clark (2-14, 1-8 NWC) is home against Linfield on Saturday in their final home match before five-in-a-row on the road.
