Amanda Phillips (senior, Phoenix, Ore.) made it two in a row when she was the top finisher in the women's 6k at McIver Park Saturday, finishing with a time of 22:05. Running on their home course in Estacada, Ore, the Pioneers had the top-two finishers for on the women's side, with Tamma Carleton (junior, Elk, Calif) placing second with a 22:29. Evelyn Ross of Claremont placed third. Sara McCune of Whitman placed fifth (23:20). Corrine Gogert of Pacific Lutheran was ninth (23:51). The Pioneers' Kelsey Croal rounded out the top-ten with a 23:54.
Running in very hot and humid conditions, Whitman (57 points) earned the women's team victory, edging Corban (78 points) to earn the title. Pacific Lutheran (85 points), Claremont (87) and Lewis & Clark (88) finished third-fifth, with just three points separating the teams.
For the men' 8k race, Claremont's Adam Coleman won the race with a time of 25:57. Linfield's Shawn Pollard finished just two seconds behind with a 25:59. Chris McIssac of Linfield was a second behind, for a third place finish with a time of 26:00.
Claremont cruised to the men's title with 29 points. Linfield was second (71 points), edging Whitman (74 points) by four. Lewis & Clark was fifth.
"It is great having two front runners like Amanda and Tamma
leading the way," said Head Coach Keith Woodard. "They are have to

The Pioneers have next weekend off before competing at the George Fox Race in Wheatland on September 22.
