Cross Country Pioneer Open
The Pioneer cross country teams hosted the Pioneer Open Saturday at McIver State Park in Estacada. Amanda Phillips finished second, Tamma Carleton sixth, and Pioneer alum Carla McHattie seventh. For a complete recap of the Pioneers' showing at the race, click here.
The Puget Sound Loggers won the women's 6k (results) with 42 points, finishing 27 points ahead of Johns Hopkins. Carleton was third with 72 points. Lewis & Clark was fourth with 85.
The Loggers Emily Timmer was the top female finisher, finishing with a 21:24, 18 seconds ahead of second-place finisher, Lewis & Clark's Amanda Phillips (senior, Phoenix, Ore.) 21:42. Lauren Paulsen of Johns Hopkins was third (22:07). UPS's Kenna Patrick was fourth with a 22:25. Kelsey Owens from Pacific was fifth with a 22:27.
In the men's 8k (results), Carleton took the team title with 37 points. Linfield was second with 68. The University of Portland edged Johns Hopkins by one point, earning third with 77 points. Puget Sound was fifth with 106.
For the individuals, Portland Pilot runner Jordan Foster was the top finisher with a 25:18. Carleton had second and third with Joe Sepe (25:20) and Quentin Kennedy (25:23). Johns Hopkins runners ounded out the top-five, James Bronson (25:25) and Patrick Brandon (25:27).
