Cross Country Set To Battle Wildcats in Season Opener

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark
men’s and women’s cross country teams are set to battle
the Linfield Wildcats on Tuesday, Sept. 1 in the home opener for
each school. The Pioneers and Wildcats will meet up at McIver State
Park for a head-to-head battle, with the women’s squads
getting things started at 4:45 p.m. with the men following shortly
after.
The Pioneer women will look to balance out their blend of
returning runners and new runners, which includes All-West Region
runner Hannah
Palmer. The Pioneers return seven other runners, while adding
six true freshmen to the lineup, plus track athlete Kirsten
Fix.
Karl Dickman, coming off a great junior campaign last season,
will pace the men’s side. Fellow returning runners John
Roberts, Asa
Weiss and Lars
Steier will join Dickman. The four true freshmen on the squad
aren’t to be counted out, providing the Pioneers with depth
and enthusiasm.
Following the dual with Linfield, the Pioneers will host the Lewis
& Clark Invitational on Satruday, Sept. 12 at 11 a.m., also at
McIver State Park.
