Cross Country Adds Seven Runners
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark cross country teams have added seven runners between the two squads, with four women and three men. The Pioneers graduate a total of nine runners from the 2012 teams, including All-West Region runners Emily Thomas and Sam Smith.
The women's side will be chasing their fourth consecutive Northwest Conference Championship, but will do so without three of their top runners. Head coach Keith Woodard expects his new runners to make an immediate impact in the teams pursuits of another title. Last season the Pioneers made their first ever trip to the NCAA Division III Championship as a team.
Much like the women's team, the incoming runners for the men are expected to help the Pioneers continue their upward climb in the NWC. Last season the Pioneers finished second at the Northwest Conference Championship shocking their competitors. The men look to repeat this season with the addition of their three new runners.
