Cross Country Wins Linfield Dual

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Lewis & Clark cross country team beat the Linfield Wildcats 58-59 on Friday in a dual meet at Westmoreland Park. The Pioneer women won 22-36 while the men fell 36-23.

On the women's side Melissa Newton-Mora was the overall winner in the 5K race with a time of 19:00.3 beating her closest opponent by 13 seconds.  For the Pioneers Katie Keith came in third with a time of 19:22.4 and teammate Kaitlyn Throgmorton finished shortly after with a time of 19:26.9 to take fourth.

For the men, Jarrod Nixon won the four mile race with a time of 21:04.6. Brendy Hale finished in fifth with a time of 21:45.2 rounding out the top five.

The Pioneers return to competition on Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Sundodger Invitational in Seattle, Wash.
