Pioneers end in defeat after allowing seven runs in the bottom of the fourth

LA VERNE, Calif. -- The Pioneers fall to the La Verne Leopards with a score of 4-7. The Pioneers did have an impressive 13 hits, but left a total of 10 runners on base. The Pioneers also allowed the Leopards to score seven runs alone in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

The La Verne Leopards had a great night of pitching with only walking one batter and striking out nine. The Pioneers struggled on the mound with only three strikeouts and six walks.

Key Moments

In the bottom of the seventh, the Leopards started strong with their first batter getting on base. Then after the Pioneers struggled to get three outs. The Pioneers allowed 14 at bats for the Leopards before getting their third and final out. At the end of the inning, the Pioneers were down with a score of 1-7.

The Pioneers best inning was the top of the fifth when Cole Petters started off the inning with a single then Tyler Gannon stepped up to continue the streak with a double. The Pioneers has their best batting during this inning. Matt Donovan has a single that allowed Petters and Gannon to score to try to put the Pioneers back in the game. Although, quickly after the Pioneers got three back to back outs to end the inning.
