Lewis & Clark snaps five game losing streak

TACOMA, Wash. -- The Pioneers were able to break their five game losing streak this Saturday night, 76-73. This is the first conference win for Lewis & Clark this season.

Pacific Lutheran started of the with the lead up until the tenth minute when Andrew Vickers made a 3-pointer to take the lead 16-14. Lewis & Clark's Mak Hutson and Nico Bricker dropped 10 points apiece in the first half helping the Pios take a 37-33 lead. Hutson shot 100% in the first going three for three in field-goals and in free-throws.

About halfway through the second half Pacific Lutheran retook the lead from a 3-pointer by Kingma Leighton but it was short lived as Vickers again made a 3-pointer to put the Pios up 54-53. The Pioneers were then able to execute on their free-throw attempts with under a minute left to hang on to their lead to snap a five game losing streak. This moves their record to 5-10 overall and 1-5 in conference.

Vickers was the leading scorer tonight with 22 points and five rebounds followed by 16 points each from Hutson and Brickers. Forward Zeke Crawford was leader in rebounds with eight.

The Pioneers will continue their road games playing Puget Sound on Friday January 19. The game will begin at 8 p.m.
