PORTLAND, Ore. -- After losing their undefeated conference record in Friday's tough loss against Whitman the Pioneers bounced back this Saturday sweeping the Whitworth Pirates 9-0. This win marks their fourth in conference play improving their record to 4-1.
In the doubles matches each Pioneer duo dominated their opponents. The nationally ranked Brenden and Gordon Barrows won with scores of 8-2 while Pim Trouerbach and Jackson Powell defeated their opponents 8-3. Brenden Barrows and Gordon Barrows have yet to lose to an unranked opponent this season. Kei Inoue and Raed Attia then defeated their opponent also with scores of 8-3.
During the singles matches Lewis & Clark has a few sets that went into extra points but they were all able to defeat their opponents without going into extra sets. Raed Attia won with scores of (6-3, 6-1) and his brother Ramez Attia won with scores of (6-4, 6-2). Keane Hindle won the first set of his match (6-4) but his opponent retired in the middle of the second set. In Inoue's first set it went into extra points but he was able to win with scores of (7-5, 6-2). Same for Trouerbach, except his second set went into extra points, he won with scores of (6-1, 7-5). Finally Brendan Adams defeated his opponent with scores of (6-0, 6-3).
The Pioneers will be playing at home for their next two matches. Sunday's match is against Southwestern (Tex.) at the L&C Tennis Dome and will begin at 11 a.m.
