TEMPE, Ariz. -- For the second time in four years, Lewis & Clark's Jimmy Chau was named the West Region tasc Performance Intercollegiate Tennis Association Assistant Coach of the Year, the organization announced earlier this month. Chau was honored as men's assistant of the year, while Jacob Carrillo of Trinity was picked for the women.
Chau, who was named to the same honor in 2015, just completed his 13th season as an assistant coach for his alma mater. This past season, the men's program earned their second straight appearance in the Northwest Conference Championship final and spent the majority of the season in the national rankings. Lewis & Clark hit an all-time high ranking of No. 26 last season and moved to No. 30 this year in the last release of the regular season.
The women's team was also nationally ranked this year in their second season removed from an NWC championship in 2016.
Chau joined the coaching staff in 2005 after competing for the Pios over three seasons as a captain and MVP of the team. As a coach, Chau has tutored several All-Americans.
The Northwest Conference had several ITA postseason award winners in addition to Chau.
