PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers fell to the Portland State Vikings earning no wins. Although, the Pioneers had a strong showing with a couple standouts in both singles and doubles which showed a lot of potential for the upcoming season.
In singles, Raed Attia gave the Vikings the biggest battle of the night with a 6-3, 6-4 loss against Portland State's Matteo Fortini. In doubles, the team of Raed Attia and Ramez Attia gave the Vikings another close game with a 6-3 loss. In both singles and doubles, the Pioneers men's tennis had a great fight against the Vikings with many more opportunities in the future to their dominance.
In singles, Riley Vickers had an outstanding performance with a 3-6 win in the first set over the Vikings' Otto Holtari. Vickers' win was the only won set of the night for the Pioneers. After the first set, Vickers could not hold onto the momentum which resulted in a 6-2, 1-0 loss in the next sets to give Holtari the win.
- Ramez Attia lost in singles against PSU's Tommy Edwards, 6-3, 6-2
- McDermott fell in singles to Avery West, 6-0, 6-2
- Hayes was defeated by the Vikings' Sam Roberts, 6-2, 6-0
The Pioneers head to Texas this upcoming weekend to go against Southwestern (Tex.) and Trinity (Tex.) on Feb. 8 and Feb. 9.
