PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers dominated the Whitworth Pirates today in a 9-0 win. The Pioneers had an overall great performance today with a lot of energy and momentum. With updated rankings, the Pioneers are now ranked No. 30 in the country for Division III, and they are ranked eighth in the West region.
In doubles, Ryan Hayes and Riley Vickers had a great performance with almost a clean sweep against the Pirates' No. 3 team. Vickers and Hayes had a lot of momentum with some Lewis & Clark Tennis Alumni in the dome for the match. Vickers and Hayes ended with an 8-2 win over the Pirates.
In doubles, Will McDermott and Brendan Adams had a great performance with an 8-3 win against Whitworth's No. 2. McDermott and Adams kept the momentum the entire game, and were the first team done in doubles. Hayes and Vickers almost had a clean sweep with a final score of 8-2. Raed and Ramez Attia had a little closer of a game, but finished with an 8-6 win over the Whitworth's No. 1.
In singles, Adams had a strong performance with a 6-1, 6-1 win against the Pirates' No. 2. Ramez Attia also dominated against the Pirates with a 6-0, 6-1 win. Raed Attia also had a relatively quick game against the Pirates' No. 1. Attia finished with a 6-0, 6-2 win. The Pioneers ended singles with a clean 6-0 sweep over the Pirates.
