EUGENE, Ore. -- The Covered Bridge Regatta in Eugene was highlighted by a men's varsity 4+ win, and a second place finish by the varsity 8+. The regatta was populated with over 95 entries, and several Division 1 schools.
The men's varsity 8+, composed of Griffin Siadak, Andrew Cavanaugh, Kaleb Anderson, Samuel Makikalli, Cooper Barton, Daniel Marsan, Owen Wohlforth, Eric Slack and coxswain Magdaleine Coit grabbed a second place finish in their second race of the day, posting a time of 7:04.840. They were only 0:00.680 seconds behind Sacremento State, who won the heat. In the first race, they finished in 6:39.190, 0:09.750 seconds behind first place Oregon State, allowing the Pios a fourth place finish.
Lewis & Clark had two varsity 4+ boats competing. The boat composed of Cavanaugh, Siadak, Makikalli, Wohlforth, and Coit came in fourth place in their first race of the day, with a time of 7:20.200. The winner of the race was Seattle University, finishing in 7:02.860.
Marsan, Barton, Anderson, Slack, and Tyler Lebovic made up the other varsity 4+ boat. They placed fifth in their first race of the day, with a time of 7:46.410. Oregon won the head with a time of 7:02.700. In the second race of the day, the boat finished third to Chico State and Sonoma State. The Pios posted a time of 8:54.660.
