HILLSBORO, Ore. -- Olivia Brackin concluded a busy week of competition with three home runs and 11 RBIs en route to a .577 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage to earn Northwest Conference Student-Athlete of the Week honors, the conference office announced Monday.
The Pioneers made a trip to Clermont, Fla. to take on some east coast competition over spring break. In the Pioneers' game against Union on Mar. 25, Brackin totaled three hits in four at-bats including a home run and three runs batted in. In each of the following two games, Brackin totaled two hits in three at-bats and one run batted in.
Brackin totaled multiple hits in six of her eight games played and had only one game in which she did not earn a hit. In Sunday's win against conference opponent, Puget Sound, Brackin had two hits in three at-bats including a home run and four runs batted in. All of the Pioneers' RBIs in that game were earned by Brackin.
Brackin's three home run performance this week moved her to first place in the NWC in home runs on the season with nine. She is currently one home run out of first place all-time at Lewis & Clark in home runs on a season. Hannah Del Pra holds the record of 10 home runs in the season set in 2013.
Brackin also took over the top spot in the NWC in RBIs with 28 on the season. As a freshman Brackin has the second best season batting average on the team with a .420. In 81 at-bats this season Brackin has totaled 34 hits and 22 runs while striking out only once.
The Pioneers return to Huston Sports Complex next weekend, Apr. 6-7 to take on Pacific before traveling up to Spokane to play Whitworth on Apr. 13-14. To finish out the season the Pioneers will travel to Linfield on Apr. 19 before returning to the hill for their final regular-season games against Linfield on Apr. 20.
