100th win for Coach Cyrus as Pioneers defeat Pirates

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers won their final game of the series against the Whitworth Pirates 3-1, earning Head Coach Shawna Cyrus' 100th win. Coach Cyrus is in her tenth year with the program, leading the squad to 17-7 for the season.

Savannah Dickson pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and one earned run while striking out three. Frankie Warden, Emily Drevdahl, Olivia Brackin, and Hannah Urbach combined for the Pios' five hits, with Warden's homer in the second inning bringing her total for the season up to four.

Key Moments

The Pios started slow in the first inning with three quick outs before Frankie Warden blasted a home run out to center field in the top of the second. She was followed by a single from Olivia Brackin, who stole second but got caught at third trying to get into scoring position. Hannah Urbach was able to reach on a throwing error but the inning ended before she could get around the bases.

The combined efforts of Lily Moffitt and Emily Drevdahl brought in the next two runs in the top of the third. Moffitt reached on a fielder's choice and was able to advance to third on a throwing error by the Whitworth shortstop. Braylin Jenson scored, unearned. Drevdahl then singled up the middle to score Moffitt. The Pirates were able to answer back with one run in the bottom of the third. Both teams remained scoreless for the rest of the game.
