PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers got their second win of the season this Saturday against the Pacific Boxers. This was the Pio's second dual-style race of the weekend with both the men's team and women's team coming out on top. The women outscored the Boxers 153-46, while the men finished 153-35.
The men saw strong repeat performances by their freshman class, with JP Greener winning the men's 100 Backstroke and Alex Spiecker winning the men's 1000 Freestyle. On the women's side, the upperclassman led the way with Anna DePeape winning the 1000 Freestyle, Kassie Kometani winning the 100 Butterfly and Eleanor Gerrior winning both the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle.
With this set of wins under their belt, the Pioneers are feeling energized and excited about their upcoming invitational at Puget Sound in two weeks.
The race of the afternoon was the women's 400 IM in which Erin Khong fought hard for the top spot. Finishing in 4:59.45, Khong lost her lead during the backstroke but regained it during the butterfly. She was followed by freshman Alys Chang, KK Fiddler, and Ciara Orness.
Freshman Caroline Karson notched another win for the weekend in the 100 Breaststroke and was only .5 seconds off her debut performance at PLU
- Eleanor Gerrior was only .05 seconds off her season high 50 Freestyle time and five seconds faster than her season best 100 Freestyle time
- Kyle Monteleone won the 100 Butterfly, 500 Freestyle and 200 Medley Relay along with William Whitmer, Matt Jackson and Andrew Butcher
- Sabrina Murray won the women's 200 Freestyle, the 500 Freestyle and the 200 Freestyle Relay along with teammates Izzy Couch, Julia Brandt and Erin Khong
- The Pioneers won every event except the men's 400 IM and the women's 100 Backstroke
The Pioneers head to Tacoma for the three day Logger Invite hosted by Puget Sound on Fri., Nov. 30 at 6:30pm.
