LA MIRADA, Calif.-- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers were taken down by the Biola University Eagles. The Pioneers finished with two individuals with personal bests, and in every event at least one Pioneer finished in the top three.
The men's team was very close to the Eagles losing only by a total of 15 points while the women's team had a little more of a gap. The men's 400 Yard Freestyle Relay took first with the team consisting of: August Bergh, Andrew Butcher, JP Greener, and Kyle Monteleone. The women finished 69-136 while the men finished with the score of 91-106.
For the men's team, Alex Spiecker and Matt Jackson had a personal best in the meet. Spiecker finished with a time of 10:55.41 in the 1000 Yard Freestyle, and Jackson with a time of 4:42.14 in the 400 Yard IM. August Bergh also stood out taking second in both the 200 Yard Freestyle and 500 Yard Freestyle. Kyle Monteleone helped the Pioneers close the gap against the Eagles with a first place finish in the 50 Yard Backstroke.
For the women's team, Eleanor Gerrior made an outstanding performance with a first place finish in both the 50 Yard Freestyle and 50 Yard Butterfly. Kassie Kometani and Erin Khong helped the Pioneers close the gap, Kametani finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle and Khong finished 400 Yard IM. The women also finished third in the 400 Yard Relay with a team consisting of: KK Fiddler, Ciara Orness, Claire Greene, and Alys Chang.

- Kyle Monteleone took second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle
- Alys Chang finished third in the 200 Yard Freestyle
- Sabrina Murray finished second in the 1000 Yard Freestyle
The Pioneers head to McMinnville, Ore., to compete against the Linfield Wildcats on Jan. 11 at 6 PM.
