NEWBERG, Ore. - The Lewis & Clark men's and women's track & field teams concluded the 2015 regular season on Saturday afternoon at the Northwest Conference Championships with the women finishing seventh and the men eighth.
Junior Kodie Artner earned the Conference Championship in the 110m hurdles with a personal best time of 14.90. Artner led the pack the most of the way in the 400m hurdles, before clipping a hurdle and falling to the ground. The junior's lead was large enough that he managed to recover to finish third.
Curtis Shirey was the Northwest Conference Champion in the 100m dash after taking down the competition with a time of 10.96.
Ali Brauer ran a season best 12:08.66 in the 3000m steeplechase, after battling through injury much of the season.
Jeff Mullins finished just outside All-Conference honors in the 1500m run, taking home fourth place with a time of 4:05.07.
Blake Slattengren ran a season best in the 10000m, finishing in sixth place with a time of 33:01.45. On the women's side, Kori Groenveld also ran a season best in the event, finishing in 40:22.52, which earned her sixth place.
The Pios will send a select few athletes to the Oregon State High Performance meet on May 1 in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championships.
