EUGENE, Ore. -- Competing at the Oregon Twilight, senior Frances Swanson set a new personal best in the 1,500 meters on Friday afternoon.
Swanson finished seventh overall with a time of 4:42.66, three seconds faster than her previous career best of 4:45.76 at this year's Willamette Invitational.
Nikki Long of Altitude Run won the event at 4:29.20.
The race follows Swanson's new school record in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at last week's Oregon State High Performance Meet. Swanson won the Northwest Conference title in that event two weeks ago.
Entering Friday, Swanson is 37th nationally in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
Lewis & Clark has four student-athletes competing in Saturday's Linfield Open.
