McMINNVILLE, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers returned for the second day of the Northwest Conference Championships on Sunday, hosted by Linfield at Maxwell Field and Memorial Stadium. Lewis & Clark finished in seventh place for both men and women. The men scored 49 while the women scored 31.
In the 800 meters, senior Amelia Jackson placed fifth and clocked in at 2:20.53. She also competed in the women's 4x400-meter relay and helped the team to a fifth place finish with a time of 4:06.54 for a season best.
"We stepped up and competed hard," said Director of Cross Country and Track and Field, Keith Woodard. "The team came together really well."
In the pole vault event, freshman Logan Kyle finished in third place with a season-best mark of 14 feet, 0.50 inches to earn All-Northwest Conference honors.
"All around, it was a pretty good day," Kyle said.
Sophomore Miguel Haro Ruiz and senior Jeff Mullins finished second and third in the 1,500 meters to each earn All-NWC selection. Both runners had season bests with times of 3:59.13 and 4:00.56, respectively.
"The men's 1,500 meters really stands out as an example of teamwork," said Woodard.
In the javelin throw, freshman Jake LaGrand finished in sixth place with a season best of 185 feet, 8 inches.
The next meet for the Pios is the Oregon State High Performance in Corvallis, Ore. on Friday.
