PORTLAND, Ore. -- The Lewis & Clark Pioneers saw six athletes receive All-Northwest Conference honors following the NWC Championships on April 26-27. Miguel Haro Ruiz had two top three finishes, running two seconds off his career best time in the 800 to finish in third, a time which edged out his Puget Sound competitor by .08 seconds. The junior then went on to finish second in the 1500, again only two seconds off his career best time. Haro Ruiz had four top three performances this season.
Pole vaulter Logan Kyle finished in third place, capping a season of top performances, including first place finishes at the L&C Invite and Pacific Luau Invitational in April. Kyle jumped 4.28m at the NWC Championships, .15 meters behind second place and .3 meters behind first.
Finally, the men's 4x100m relay team of Anakin Mares, Matthew Weston, Aidan Verba-Hamilton, and Bryce Johnson received honors after a third place finish at the NWC Championships. Coming across the line at 42.97, they placed just .18 seconds behind Linfield in second. The relay team has been incredibly successful this year, notching first place finishes at the L&C Invite and Pacific Luau invitational. The team only loses one member this year as Johnson graduates.
The team looks to the West Coast Invitational and the George Fox Final Qualifier as their last opportunities to qualify for nationals.
